Job summary

Oaklawn-Hospital is seeking a casual part-time laboratory support staff member to assist the Director by performing venipuncture, processing specimens, and general lab cleanup. The role includes clerical duties, phone support, order management, and data entry into the LIS.

Must be 18+ with attention to detail; basic computer skills are required. Phlebotomy skills are preferred. The position involves working one weekend every few weeks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic computer skills to enter data and retrieve patient information.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to greet customers professionally.
• Phlebotomy skills are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients.
• Process send-over specimens and maintain specimen integrity.
• Clean and stock blood drawing booths/trays; manage glassware and supplies.
• Assist with clerical duties when needed; answer phones and pull orders.
• Enter testing into LIS and ensure accurate paperwork and documentation.
• Request orders from providers and communicate critical results.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional demeanor.
• Support refrigerator maintenance and general lab duties as assigned.
