Job summary

Direct Counsel seeks a Labor Management Relations Associate Attorney with 3–7 years of traditional labor law experience in a leading national firm’s Labor & Employment practice. Location options include New York, NY or Philadelphia, PA.

The ideal candidate will handle arbitrations, NLRB matters, collective bargaining, and union avoidance within a collaborative team. The position offers a path to partnership in a sophisticated labor practice, with a hybrid work environment and a compensation

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of traditional labor law experience.
• Experience with labor arbitrations, including first- or second-chair experience.
• Experience prosecuting and defending unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB.
• Experience with collective bargaining and union avoidance.
• Wage and hour class and collective action experience, particularly involving unionized employees, is preferred.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across offices and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong commitment to client service.

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in traditional labor matters and labor-management relations.
• Handle labor arbitrations, including first- or second-chair experience.
• Prosecute and defend unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
• Advise clients regarding collective bargaining and union-related matters.
• Counsel employers on union avoidance strategies and labor relations issues.
• Represent clients in labor disputes and related proceedings.
• Handle wage and hour class and collective actions, particularly involving unionized employees.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, briefs, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys across offices and practice groups.
• Provide practical, business-oriented advice while maintaining strong client relationships.
