Job summary

The AFL-CIO Legal Department in Washington, DC is offering a one-year Fellowship beginning in September 2027. This opportunity is ideal for recent law school graduates to work with experienced union-side lawyers on a broad range of issues.

The Fellow will collaborate with AFL-CIO attorneys on litigation, regulatory and legislative matters affecting workers’ rights and the labor movement, including opportunities to attend oral arguments and participate in Union Lawyers Alliance activities.

Qualifications

• Recent law graduates welcomed to apply.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills required.
• Commitment to workers’ rights and union-side labor law.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced lawyers on cases and regulatory matters affecting the labor movement.
• Work on litigation, policy, regulatory and legislative issues with AFL-CIO lawyers.
• Participate in meetings, conferences and union-lawyer alliance activities when possible.
