Job summary

The AFL-CIO Legal Department offers a one-year fellowship beginning September 2027 for recent law school graduates to work with union-side lawyers on a wide variety of issues.

Fellows will assist lawyers on cases before the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeals, and regulatory matters, with opportunities to attend meetings and oral arguments, participate in ULA activities, and engage with national labor lawyers and students. Salary and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Commitment to workers’ rights and desire to practice union-side labor law.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced AFL-CIO lawyers on cases and regulatory matters affecting the labor movement.
• Participate in meetings with union lawyers and attend oral arguments when possible.
• Contribute to Union Lawyers Alliance activities, including conferences and outreach to new labor lawyers and students.
