Job summary

The University of Central Florida seeks an experienced attorney to join the Office of the General Counsel as Associate General Counsel, focusing on labor and employment matters. This is a trusted partner role to university leadership, providing strategic advice on complex workplace issues.

The position covers employment law, labor relations, litigation support, and policy development within a large public university setting.

Qualifications

• Law degree and 4+ years of experience as an attorney.
• Must be a member of the Florida Bar or become a member within twelve months of employment.
• Experience advising on labor and employment matters within higher education or similarly complex organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day employment advice to university departments and units, including compliance guidance.
• Represent the University in administrative proceedings (OCR, EEOC, FCHR) and manage outside counsel.
• Advise bargaining teams, participate in bargaining sessions, and interpret collective bargaining agreements.
• Track state and federal developments; draft and revise University regulations and policies as needed.
• Review university contracts and draft labor- and employment-related instruments.
• Serve as counsel on garnishment matters and perform other duties as assigned.
