• Juris doctor degree from an accredited institution and two years of appropriate experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary in-house counsel on a broad array of external transactional arrangements, including contract and lease negotiation, drafting, and compliance.
• Assists in planning, organizing, and directing all legal activities involving the Board of Trustees or the university.
• Advises officials on legal rights and obligations and assists in formulating legal policy.
• Manages university litigation and coordinates with the State’s Division of Risk Management on outside counsel selection and assignment, discovery, and settlements.
• Liaises with the University Police Department, Title IX Office, Public Affairs, and Risk Manager; appears in court and mediation as needed.
