Job summary

Qualifications

  • 6–12 years of experience in labor and employment law, including single plaintiff, class actions, and counseling.
  • Broad experience across employment law, discrimination, wage/hour, leaves and accommodations, and drafting policies/handbooks.
  • Ability to independently manage significant responsibilities and collaborate with multiple attorneys.
  • Licensure to practice law in Washington; Oregon license a plus.
  • Demonstrated client service orientation and strong writing/communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Litigate and advise on labor and employment matters.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and provide direct client service.
  • Lead or contribute to practice group business development efforts.
  • Draft employment agreements, policies, settlements, and handbooks.

Job description

Foster Garvey is seeking an experienced attorney with six to twelve years of experience to join its Labor, Employment & Immigration Practice group as an Associate or Counsel in our Seattle office. For highly experienced and motivated attorneys with a portable book of business, an Income Principal role will be considered.

The successful candidate will have:
  • 6 to 12 years of experience in labor and employment law, including single plaintiff and class action litigation and employment advice and counseling;
  • Demonstrated record working in a broad spectrum of employment law, litigation and advice, including anti-discrimination and harassment, wage and hour claims and counseling, employee leave and disability accommodation management and advice, and drafting employment agreements, settlements, policies and handbooks;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective direct client service and build and maintain successful client relationships; The ability to independently manage significant and simultaneous individual responsibilities and work with multiple attorneys;
  • Demonstrated ability or strong interest in business development and supporting practice group business development;
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical and writing skills;
  • A client-service approach and exceptional communication skills;
  • Enthusiasm to work with and build a diverse team;
  • Interest, ability, or experience working in traditional labor legal advice or collective bargaining negotiations is a plus;
  • Experience with Oregon litigation or employment law is a plus;
  • A license to practice law in Washington State is required, and a license to practice law in Oregon State is a plus.
Salary Range:

The current annualized salary range for this position is $205,000 to $350,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's relevant experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
