Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Labor & Delivery (Partial 20-39.99 hrs) in Webster, TX. The role supports safe, efficient surgical care and patient safety.

Responsibilities include scrubbing, instrument handling, sterile technique, and assisting in postoperative care while collaborating with surgeons and nurses. Basic Life Support is required, with credentialing within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program is required.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or certification within 6 months of employment is required.

Responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Scrub in the prescribed manner and dons sterile gown and gloves.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Assist in positioning, skin preparation and draping of patient.
• Passes instruments required during surgery to the surgeon.
• M aintain sterile technique during the procedure.
• Assist with postoperative dressings.
• Assist circulator or scrub person in all specialties.
• Prepare operating suite for the next operation.
