Job summary

Openwork Health is seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) to join our healthcare staffing team in San Antonio. You will provide comprehensive care to laboring patients and newborns, collaborating with physicians and midwives to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes patient education, emotional support, and adherence to facility protocols, with a focus on delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a fast-paced obstetric environment.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in the appropriate state.
• Minimum of one year of labor and delivery nursing experience preferred.
• BLS and NRP certifications required; additional certifications may be required.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and fetal heart rates, documenting any changes or concerns.
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed.
• Assist with labor induction, epidural placement, and delivery procedures.
• Provide immediate newborn care and support post-delivery bonding between mother and baby.
• Educate patients on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
• Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with facility standards.
• Work as part of a collaborative healthcare team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
