Job summary

West Jefferson Medical Center is seeking an RN Clinical Nurse Manager for Labor & Delivery to lead a dedicated team delivering compassionate care to mothers, babies, and families. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, staff development, budgeting, policy review, and patient-centered service, while ensuring a safe and exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana RN license and active BLS certification.
• 5+ years of professional nursing experience; leadership in Labor & Delivery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily clinical, operational, and financial activities of the Labor & Delivery department.
• Promote safe, evidence-based maternal and newborn care.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, orientation, performance, and team development.
• Maintain accountability for hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with physicians, nursing leaders, and hospital departments to support safe and efficient care.
• Monitor quality outcomes and lead performance-improvement initiatives.
• Support budget planning and responsible use of department resources.
• Promote a positive, collaborative environment for employees, patients, and families.
• Review and update departmental policies and procedures as needed.

As the RN Clinical Manager of Labor & Delivery at West Jefferson Medical Center, you will lead a team dedicated to providing safe, compassionate care to mothers, babies, and families during some of life's most important moments. You will oversee the clinical, operational, and financial performance of the department while supporting your team, strengthening quality outcomes, and creating an exceptional patient experience. You will serve as a trusted partner to nurses, physicians, patients, and families while helping your team deliver extraordinary care every day.

Your Everyday

• Lead the daily clinical, operational, and financial activities of the Labor & Delivery department.
• Promote safe, evidence-based maternal and newborn care.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, orientation, performance, and team development.
• Maintain accountability for hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with physicians, nursing leaders, and hospital departments to support safe and efficient care.
• Monitor quality outcomes and lead performance-improvement initiatives.
• Support budget planning and responsible use of department resources.
• Promote a positive, collaborative environment for employees, patients, and families.
• Review and update departmental policies and procedures as needed.

The Must-Haves

• Current Louisiana Registered Nurse license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• At least five years of professional nursing experience.

Labor & Delivery, women's services, charge nurse, or nursing leadership experience is preferred.

Maintain a close working relationship with other hospital managers and serve on committees to provide efficient and safe patient experience.

Manage and coordinate quality assurance program improvement on the assigned unit.

Promote a safe environment and complete safety reports regarding employee or patient injury and ensure proper follow-up.

Participate in budget planning and manage cost containment practices.

Assimilate evidence-based practices and safety protocols into patient care and always maintain patient confidentiality.

Update policies and procedures as warranted.

Manage staffing: evaluate staff work performance, coordinate new employee orientation, and interview, hire, counsel and terminate employees.

The Must-Haves

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• 5 years of experience in professional nursing
