Job summary

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a compassionate Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our Perinatal team in Idaho Falls. You will provide direct care to mothers and newborns, perform assessments, and collaborate with physicians to ensure safe, individualized care plans.

This role requires current Idaho RN licensure, BLS, and neonatal care competencies, with orientation to our Mother-Baby unit. We offer competitive benefits, professional development, and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Idaho RN license.
• BLS Healthcare Provider within 2 weeks of hire.
• NRP, ACLS, STABLE within 6 months of hire.
• BBNC within 12 months of hire.
• Mother Baby and Infant feeding competency before orientation completion and biannual skills labs afterward.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Recovery and Postpartum setting for mothers and infants.
• Assess and plan individualized patient care; document and communicate changes to providers.
• Perform vitals, head-to-toe assessments, and newborn assessments per policy.
• Implement teaching plans for families and evaluate learning outcomes.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and supervise patient care as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and perinatal guidelines.

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our team!

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care in the Recovery and Postpartum setting, including both moms and infants. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with providers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in the Perinatal Department. Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
• Able to provide family centered care for a postpartum mother and baby on the mother-baby unit.
• Able to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to current guidelines. Will complete newborn resuscitation competency within 90 days of hire and recertify quarterly.
• Able to perform vitals and initial admission and head-to-toe assessments on infants and adults and reassessments as per policy.
• Implements a teaching plan based on identified learning need and evaluates effectiveness of learning. (Family is included as appropriate).
• Able to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicted by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
• Communicates appropriately any patient care issues and current assessment clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and providers.
• Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
• Coordinates and supervises patient care, as necessary.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current valid RN license with the state of Idaho.

Proof of completion of the following courses is required either at time of hire, or within the time frame designated:

• BLS Healthcare Provider within 2 weeks of hire.
• NRP, ACLS, & STABLE within 6 months of hire.
• BBNC within 12 months of hire.
• Complete Mother Baby and Infant feeding competency prior to coming off orientation, and thereafter attend biannual skills lab to maintain competency.
• Working knowledge of the human anatomy and its application to the well and sick perinatal patients.
