Job summary

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our team in Idaho Falls, Idaho. You will provide direct care to mothers and newborns in the postpartum unit and participate in perinatal care planning and education.

The role requires nursing licensure in Idaho, ability to perform neonatal resuscitation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• BLS Healthcare Provider within 2 weeks of hire.
• NRP, ACLS, & STABLE within 6 months of hire.
• BBNC within 12 months of hire.
• Mother Baby and Infant feeding competency prior to end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in Recovery and Postpartum setting for mothers and infants.
• Assesses and plans individualized patient care; communicates changes to providers.
• Performs general nursing duties in the Perinatal Department.
• Completes newborn resuscitation competency and ongoing head-to-toe assessments.
• Implements teaching plans and develops an individualized care plan.
• Coordinates with interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs.

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our team!

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care in the Recovery and Postpartum setting, including both moms and infants. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with providers about changes in patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in the Perinatal Department. Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
• Able to provide family centered care for a postpartum mother and baby on the mother-baby unit.
• Able to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to current guidelines. Will complete newborn resuscitation competency within 90 days of hire and recertify quarterly.
• Able to perform vitals and initial admission and head-to-toe assessments on infants and adults and reassessments as per policy.
• Implements a teaching plan based on identified learning need and evaluates effectiveness of learning. (Family is included as appropriate).
• Able to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicted by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
• Communicates appropriately any patient care issues and current assessment clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and providers.
• Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
• Coordinates and supervises patient care, as necessary.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current valid RN license with the state of Idaho.

Proof of completion of the following courses is required either at time of hire, or within the time frame designated:

• BLS Healthcare Provider within 2 weeks of hire.
• NRP, ACLS, & STABLE within 6 months of hire.
• BBNC within 12 months of hire.
• Complete Mother Baby and Infant feeding competency prior to coming off orientation, and thereafter attend biannual skills lab to maintain competency.
• Working knowledge of the human anatomy and its application to the well and sick perinatal patients.

Experience

Previous postpartum experience preferred.
