Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls seeks a Postpartum Registered Nurse to provide direct care in the Perinatal unit, focusing on both mother and newborn. You will assess and plan individualized care, communicate changes to providers, and participate in ongoing performance improvement activities.

Requirements include Idaho RN license, BLS, NRP, ACLS, STABLE within specified timelines, and demonstrated mother-baby competency. Prior postpartum experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Idaho RN license.
• BLS Provider certification within 2 weeks of hire.
• NRP, ACLS and STABLE within 6 months of hire.
• BBNC certification within 12 months of hire.
• Mother Baby and Infant feeding competency prior to orientation completion.
• Working knowledge of perinatal anatomy and applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Recovery and Postpartum setting for moms and infants.
• Assess neonates at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation per guidelines.
• Complete newborn resuscitation competency within 90 days and recertify quarterly.
• Perform vitals, initial admissions, and head-to-toe assessments on infants and adults.
• Develop and evaluate an individualized plan of care daily.
• Teach and evaluate learning for families when appropriate.
• Communicate patient care issues clearly to charge nurse, staff and providers.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet patient needs.

Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with providers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in the Perinatal Department. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.2. Able to provide family centered care for a postpartum mother and baby on the mother-baby unit.3. Able to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to current guidelines. Will complete newborn resuscitation competency within 90 days of hire and recertify quarterly.4. Able to perform vitals and initial admission and head-to-toe assessments on infants and adults and reassessments as per policy.5. Implements a teaching plan based on identified learning need and evaluates effectiveness of learning. (Family is included as appropriate).6. Able to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicted by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.7. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.8. Communicates appropriately any patient care issues and current assessment clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and providers.9. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.10.
