Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Labor & Delivery team is seeking a Nursing Leader who will oversee daily operations, coordinate staffing and patient flow, and serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff in a high-acuity setting.

Reporting to the Nursing Director, you will drive safety, quality and evidence-based practice, support hiring and onboarding, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional care for laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• RN license and Basic Life Support certification required.
• 3–5 years related work experience; 0–1 year supervisory/management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily department operations including patient flow, acuity, staffing, throughput, and priorities in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment.
• Serve as clinical resource and support for nursing staff, promoting safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Support implementation of nursing practice standards, competency development, and clinical practice updates.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordination of care for laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients.
• Under Nursing Director direction, support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, staffing, payroll, performance evaluations, and employee relations processes for nursing and support staff.
• Participate in departmental quality, safety, and professional practice initiatives, including Faculty Hours and performance improvement efforts.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and operational support to staff, including coaching and performance management.
