Job summary

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital - Mount Vernon is seeking nursing students for a Student Nurse Externship. You will work under supervision, gaining real-world clinical experience across units with a dedicated preceptor.

This program aims to transition externs to a Graduate Nurse Residency position after RN program completion. Scheduling is flexible to fit school commitments, with a fixed hourly pay of $18.00.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing and completion of first clinical rotation, or no more than 90-days post conferral date
• Graduation date must be within 18 months to qualify
• No experience required

Responsibilities

• Completes patient care tasks based on skills deemed competent in nursing school under direction of RN.
• Contributes to overall quality and safe care for patients by monitoring vital signs and patient condition.
• Assists with activities of daily living and prepares patients for discharge as indicated.
• Assists and performs procedures such as dressing changes, ostomy care, and catheter care.
• Communicates effectively with the health care team to ensure patient safety and care quality.
