Distinct North America is seeking a Labor and Employment Associate to work fully remote from anywhere in California. The role involves defending employers in wage-and-hour class actions in state and federal court, with non-litigation advisory duties the other part of the week.
Applicants should have four to eight years litigating for and advising California employers, be licensed to practice in California, and hold the California Bar. The firm values practical judgment and client service.
This is a labor and employment associate job for somebody four to eight years in, working from home anywhere in California, and it pays $230,000 to $300,000.
You'd be defending employers in class actions over wage and hour, in both state and federal court, with cases brought by one employee over discrimination, harassment or retaliation alongside them. The other part of the week is advice. A client wants to change how the sales team gets paid and would like to know before they do it whether it ends up in front of a judge, and you're the one they ask. Most associates at this stage are good at one of those halves and put up with the other, and this seat wants somebody who'd happily do both.
You do have to live in California. There's a Los Angeles office if you ever want somewhere to print things.
Plenty of good lawyers stay put for years because a job wanted their transcript and the transcript was in a box in the garage under the Christmas lights.
I'm Arran Jaiswal, I find California employment lawyers their next job for Distinct North America, and I'll never ask you for a cover letter.
