Overview

We are seeking a Labor and Delivery RN , also referred to as a Labor & Delivery Nurse (L&D RN) or Delivery Room RN . A Labor and Delivery RN provides comprehensive care to mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications , assisting with deliveries. They also perform clinical tasks, ensure patient safety, educate families, and coordinate closely with the healthcare team to respond to both routine and emergency situations.

Bonus Options: up to $10,000 Sign-On Bonus

Shift’s Available: Nights

Hours: 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Maternal Monitoring: They check blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and monitor for signs of complications like preeclampsia or infection
  • Labor Support: They assist with positioning the patient, guiding breathing techniques, and offering comfort measures like massage, cold packs, birthing balls, or hydrotherapy
  • IV Therapy: Starting and maintaining IVs for hydration, medication administration, or anesthesia
  • Patient Advocacy: Nurses act as advocates during labor, especially for patients who may have specific birth plans or cultural needs
  • Newborn Care: They dry, warm, and assess the baby immediately after birth (Apgar scoring), assist with cord clamping, and administer prophylactic medications

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
  • BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current
  • ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current
  • NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current
  • Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred
  • STABLE preferred
