Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
Position Overview
- Experience Required:2+ years of L&D RN experience
- First-Time Travelers:Accepted
- Float Between Units:No
- On-Call:No
- Weekends:Yes — 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
- Block Schedule:No
- 48 Hours:Approved
- Charting:Epic preferred

- RRT Scrubs:Galaxy Blue / Royal Blue

Required Certifications
- BLS
- NRP
- ACLS
- AWHONN Intermediate — preferred
Required Clinical Skills
IV Therapy & Medication Management
- IV therapy / phlebotomy
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring
- Administration of blood and blood products
- Magnesium sulfate therapy
- Pitocin / oxytocin
Labor & Delivery
- C-section circulation
- C-section recovery
- Sterile vaginal examinations
- Obstetrical triage
- High-risk antepartum care
- Management of VBAC / trial of labor
- Facility volume: approximately 100–200 births/month
Fetal Monitoring
- Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- External fetal monitoring (EFM)
- Internal fetal monitoring
- Fetal heart monitoring
- APGAR scoring
- Baby Nurse / "Baby Catcher"
- Infant identification and security banding
- Infant / neonatal arrest response
- Pain assessment and management
Pain Management
- Epidural anesthesia
- General anesthesia
- Nitrous oxide
- IV PCA
- Pain assessment and management
Experience caring for patients with:
- Asthma
- Cardiac disease
- COVID
- HIV
- Infectious disease
- Malpresentations (breech / face / brow)
- Neurological disease
- Premature rupture of membranes (PROM)
- Rh incompatibilities
- Substance abuse
- Uterine rupture
Surgical Procedures
- Cervical cerclage
- D&C
- Tubal ligation
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is anL&D Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience, strong fetal monitoring and obstetrical triage skills, and experience with high-risk pregnancies, vaginal deliveries, C-sections, postpartum care, and neonatal emergencies.First-time travelers are welcome.
