Job summary

Dignity Health - Methodist Hospital in Sacramento is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Family Birth Center. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for perinatal patients and their families from admission to discharge, utilizing clinical skills and documentation in a team-based environment.

The role requires one year of labor and delivery experience, California RN license, and BLS, with ACLS and NRP to be completed within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• ADN required.
• 1 year of labor and delivery experience as an RN in acute care.
• Active RN license in CA.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• NRP certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Basic AWHONN fetal monitoring acceptable at hire; must complete Intermediate AWHONN within 6 months of hire; ongoing AWHONN/NCC fetal monitoring proficiency every two years.

Responsibilities

• Care of patient: planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Nurse (RN) in the Family Birth Center, you will help individuals and families receive holistic, effective, and appropriate care so they can experience safe and confidential care from admission to discharge.

Every day you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, focusing on the needs of perinatal patients and their families. You will be expected to utilize your clinical and technical skills, document accurately, collaborate with the healthcare team, and provide leadership in patient care while maintaining a safe environment and upholding patient safety standards.

• Assessment: Performs total body and system assessment each shift/visit according to unit standards.
• Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.
• Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit.
• Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
• Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership.
• Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff, ancillary personnel and mentors students in a constructive and positive manner. Serves as resource to staff from other nursing departments.
• Basic AWHONN fetal monitoring certification acceptable at hire, but must complete the Intermediate AWHONN course within 6 months of hire
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course every two years thereafter, or obtain NCC Fetal Monitoring Certification and maintain as specified

We are offering a $15,000 sign-on bonus to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• One (1) year of labor and delivery experience as an RN required in an acute care setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 3 months of hire - American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 3 months of hire - American Heart Association
• Basic AWHONN fetal monitoring certification acceptable at hire, but must complete the Intermediate AWHONN course within 6 months of hire
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course every two years thereafter, or obtain NCC Fetal Monitoring Certification and maintain as specified

Preferred

• One (1) year Labor and delivery C/Section/PACU, OBED, Postpartum/Newborn Nursery Unit experience
