Job summary

Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC is seeking a Labor and Delivery Clinical Nurse Educator. The role combines evidence-based education planning with direct patient care as an RN, supporting staff across the MCH department.

Responsibilities include assessing educational needs, coordinating with the Workforce Development team, and contributing to accreditation data for MCH certifications. Current NC RN license and BLS/NRP required; ACLS/PALS recommended.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• BSN degree or appropriate level of experience in an educator role is required; Master's degree preferred.
• Commissioned BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS and PALS highly recommended.
• Participation in continuing education programs; compliance with nursing CE requirements.
• Broad knowledge of current trends in specialty clinical practice and health care.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and with other health care providers and leaders.
• National certification in area of specialty.
• Computer skills: MS Office, Google programs, Meditech and related hospital info systems.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS

Responsible to the MCH Clinical Director

DEFINITION OF POSITION

The Clinical Nurse Educator collaborates with the Department Director and Assistant Director to assess, plan, intervene and evaluate educational needs for all staff in MCH. This position will work closely with Workforce Development to ensure alignment of educational needs. Will assist with data collection and data review for all MCH accreditations and certifications, serving as the MCH Perinatal Coordinator. This position will also provide 16 hours of direct patient care weekly as a registered nurse (RN).

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• BSN degree or appropriate level of experience in an educator role is required. Master's degree preferred. Clinical education experience preferred.
• Current BLS Certification and NRP Certification required. ACLS and PALS highly recommended.
• Participation in continuing education programs. Compliant with Board of Nursing and hospital policy of continuing education hour requirements.
• Broad knowledge of current trends and issues related to specialty clinical practice and health care.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers, students, instructors, and leaders.
• National certification in area of specialty.
