Job description

If you are a respected maternal-child health leader ready for broader influence without losing connection to the bedside, this Labor and Delivery Assistant Nurse Manager opportunity offers a compelling next step. Join an established labor and delivery program where experienced nurses, engaged physicians, and visible leadership create the foundation for meaningful operational impact across comprehensive maternity services.

The healthcare organization combines a community-focused healthcare culture with the resources and structure needed to support effective nursing leadership. The successful candidate will enter a collaborative practice environment with a strong clinical team, stable staffing support, thoughtful onboarding, and accessible senior leaders. Clinician autonomy is valued, interdisciplinary relationships are practical and respectful, and long-term growth is available for a leader prepared to expand responsibility over time.

Within Labor and Delivery, the Assistant Nurse Manager will help guide the daily rhythm of a dynamic OB and maternity care environment, balancing patient flow, staffing, clinical quality, and real-time problem solving. The role carries meaningful operational ownership, with authority to address workflow, reinforce standards, support bedside decision‑making, and partner closely with obstetric providers. This leader will remain visible to staff while advancing quality improvement, coordinating resources, and helping maintain a responsive patient care environment across the established labor and delivery program and broader Women’s Services continuum.

Reporting to nursing leadership, the Labor and Delivery Assistant Nurse Manager will receive executive support while serving as a key connection among frontline nurses, physicians, nursing leaders, and ancillary departments. Core priorities include coaching and staff development, scheduling and coverage oversight, performance improvement, service recovery, regulatory readiness, and consistent execution of clinical and organizational goals. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for an ANM L&D who can build trust, make sound decisions under pressure, and translate strategy into reliable daily practice.

Central California offers an appealing balance of professional opportunity and everyday livability. Residents enjoy access to year-round outdoor recreation, agricultural communities, varied dining, regional arts, and weekend destinations across mountains, lakes, and the coast. Compared with many major California markets, the region may also offer more approachable housing and commutes, along with family-friendly communities, a warm climate, and space to establish lasting roots.

The hospital is prepared to offer competitive compensation based on experience and internal parameters, with the applicable salary range available during a confidential discussion. The broader package is expected to include medical benefits, retirement offerings, paid time off, continuing education support, and leadership development resources.
