Aerotek is hiring a Label Technician for a contract-to-hire role in Ruther Glen, VA. You will perform general labor, fabrication, and assembly to support welders and fabricators in a fast-paced pre-fabrication shop.

Responsibilities include preparing materials and tools, reading blueprints, and inspecting completed assemblies for quality. Standard hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with potential overtime and weekend work as needed.

Job Title: Label Technician

Job Description

The Label Technician performs a variety of general labor, fabrication, and assembly duties in a fast-paced pre-fabrication shop environment. This role supports welders and fabricators, prepares materials and tools, operates hand and power tools, and helps assemble mechanical components according to technical specifications while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties such as drilling, cutting, and other construction-type tasks related to fabrication and pre-fabrication work.

• Assist welders and fabricators with daily tasks, including preparing materials, tools, and work areas for welding and fabrication activities.

• Prepare and stage materials, components, and tools needed for welding, fabrication, and assembly operations.

• Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, and tools to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient workspace.

• Load and unload materials and products, including moving items within the shop as directed.

• Operate basic hand tools and power tools to complete fabrication, cutting, drilling, and assembly tasks.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand job requirements and assembly specifications.

• Assemble mechanical components and systems according to specifications and technical drawings.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment to complete mechanical assemblies and fabrication tasks accurately and efficiently.

• Inspect and test completed assemblies to verify they meet quality standards and specified requirements.

• Identify and report any issues, defects, or nonconformities in the assembly or fabrication process to supervisors.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools, materials, and equipment.

• Follow all safety protocols and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel toe boots and safety glasses.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support overall shop operations and production needs.

Essential Skills

• Capability to load and unload materials and products, including handling physically demanding tasks.

• Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.

• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production demands.

• Ability to collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals.

Work Environment

Work takes place in a fast-paced, repetitive, construction-related pre-fabrication shop with exposure to noise, dust, and active equipment. The role is physically demanding and requires standing for long periods and performing manual tasks throughout the shift. Standard hours are typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with Friday work as needed, and overtime and weekend hours may be required to meet production needs. The dress code includes long pants, a t-shirt, and mandatory steel toe boots and safety glasses, along with other appropriate personal protective equipment as required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ruther Glen, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
