Job description

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing both routine and non-routine lab tests based on written test requests, and recording data for documentation. The role includes conducting laboratory analyses, maintaining and calibrating instruments, and ensuring work aligns with safety, quality, cost, and on-time completion goals.

Responsibilities may include:

• Setting up and performing lab tests according to specifications.
• Preparing test units/models for testing and making necessary alterations.
• Recording data manually or electronically, and assisting in data summarization for reports and filing.
• Performing minor maintenance on test rooms and equipment.
• Assisting with cleanup of work areas and equipment.
• Following all safety policies and procedures.
• Performing additional duties as needed.

Nature and Scope:

• Works under the guidance of a lead within well-defined instructions.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Preferred knowledge of HVAC safety standards.
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and components.
• Good brazing skills; in-house training provided.
• Mechanically inclined or hands-on skills.
• Basic computer skills: MS Office, Excel, Outlook.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Problem-solving abilities.

Experience:

• 0-3 years of lab technician experience or equivalent education and experience.

Education:

• High School diploma or GED.
• EPA 608 certification required or to be obtained within 3 months of start date.
• At least 1 year of formal technical training in electronics or HVAC/R.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment:

Light physical effort, with potential for walking or standing for extended periods. Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodations.

Supervisor, Manager, or Director of Engineering Labs.
