Job description

The Laboratory Technician I receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to the Laboratory Supervisor or appointed designate, for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. They have the authority to take necessary actions to carry out their duties and to identify departures from the quality system or testing procedures, provided such actions do not deviate from established company guidelines, are consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follow laboratory practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate and promote the company vision.
  2. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  3. Read, understand, and follow management system requirements relevant to responsibilities, including but not limited to the Quality Manual, SOPs, Local Work Instructions, and Methods, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025/AOAC ALACC requirements and relevant regulations.
  4. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to analytical work; maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  5. Register incoming samples as needed, maintain accurate records of work performed for quality control and regulatory purposes.
  6. Enter sample data into the Eurofins eLIMS system accurately and promptly.
  7. Complete laboratory testing on all incoming samples efficiently and accurately, meeting or exceeding turnaround time goals.
  8. Verify results and submit them to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  9. Identify process difficulties and report these, along with proposed solutions, to the supervisor.
  10. Remain responsive to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers.
  11. Maintain cooperative relationships with all employees and communicate effectively within and across departments.
  12. Promote the company image through ethical business practices.
  13. Strive to improve work quality through existing and new technologies.
  14. Identify non-conformances and out-of-specifications.
  15. Conduct all activities safely and efficiently.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience or skills in plating, plate reading, and sample preparation.
  • Preferred: AS or BS Degree in Microbiology, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Additional Information:

  • Shift: 3rd Shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 2am-10:30am. Transition from Monday-Friday to Tuesday-Saturday shifts.
