Job summary

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Laboratory Technician II for a contract-to-hire role in Portland, OR. You will conduct and lead chemical laboratory processes, tests, and analyses to ensure product quality and safety, working hands-on with instrumentation such as IC, ICP-MS, Roto-Vap, GC-MS, and UV-Vis.

Starting schedule varies with training, typical shifts include 6am–2:30pm or 7am–4:30pm on a 4x10 rotating schedule, with potential transition to a Monday–Friday arrangement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or closely related field; statistics coursework is a plus
  • 3–5 years of directly relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word); JMP experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with IC, ICP-MS, Roto-Vap, GC-MS, and UV-Vis strongly preferred
  • Semiconductor lab experience is a plus
  • Strong math skills through calculus and statistics; understanding of Normality and Molarity
  • Ability to read technical documents and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced lab environment

Responsibilities

  • Set up lab equipment and instrumentation for tests and process control
  • Prepare chemical solutions following formulas or procedures
  • Test and analyze chemicals for purity and document results
  • Graph and analyze data using SPC tools
  • Monitor equipment via SPC and take corrective actions
  • Maintain lab inventory and assist in planning activities
  • Train and mentor Laboratory Assistants and develop new methods
  • Participate in Gauge R&R studies and ERP-related tasks
  • Move products in ERP and flag out-of-control items
  • Contribute to SOP updates and process improvements
  • Communicate quality issues across departments
