Job summary

University of Florida is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to support animal studies, histology, and molecular biology workflows within the College of Medicine. The role involves treating animals, conducting imaging support, and performing biotechnical assays, while ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity.

The candidate will train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students, maintain records meticulously, and contribute to translational cancer research initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in an appropriate area and two years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience.
  • Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Treat animals with pharmacological agents or immunotherapy via i.p., i.m., i.v., or intracranial injection.
  • Assist with MRI, CT, and MPI imaging techniques in mice.
  • Participate in regulatory management (IACUCs).
  • Collect organs/tissues and prepare for histopathology; stain and analyze tissues.
  • Perform molecular biology tasks including RNA/DNA isolation, real-time PCR, and genotyping of transgenic mice.
  • Conduct protein analysis and western blots; perform flow cytometry and multi-parameter panels.
