Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a qualified professional to maintain laboratory equipment and ensure regulatory-aligned testing.

You will support calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting across GC, HPLC, UV, and FTIR instruments while coordinating calibration services and audits. The role requires a Bachelor's in a science field and 3+ years in a regulated lab, with strong analytical thinking and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a science-related field is required.
• 3+ years of experience in a regulated commercial lab environment, working with general lab equipment is required.
• Advanced knowledge of routine calibration, maintenance & troubleshooting techniques across instruments (GC, HPLC, UV, FTIR). Hands-on experience is preferred.
• Able to think analytically; problem-solving skills are essential.
• Knowledge of word processing and database software is required; advanced language proficiency is required.
• Solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks; strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment readiness within established parameters governing regulatory compliance to meet customer testing requests.
• Assist in interpretation of calibration records requested by customers during on-site audits.
• Participate in department or company-wide projects to improve customer service.
• Lead in the resolution of Out-of-Tolerance events.
• Assist management in addressing corrective or preventive actions related to equipment.
• Ensure testing staff receive needed help on equipment to complete studies.
• Prepare protocols for validation and requalification of equipment and maintain schedules.
• Prepare impact assessment reports for equipment involved in out-of-tolerance events.
• Coordinate outside calibration testing for equipment when needed.
• Collaborate with metrology in qualification or retirement of equipment in the laboratory.
