Job summary

SGS is seeking a qualified lab equipment specialist to maintain instrument readiness and ensure regulatory compliance during testing activities. You will interpret calibration records, lead Out-of-Tolerance resolutions, and support improvement projects across the department.

You will prepare validation and requalification protocols, coordinate external calibration, and work with metrology to qualify or retire equipment within the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or science-related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a regulated commercial lab environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of routine calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of GC, HPLC, UV, FTIR.
  • Able to think analytically and solve problems.
  • Familiarity with word processing and database software.
  • Advanced language proficiency and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment readiness within regulatory parameters to meet customer testing requests.
  • Assist interpretation of calibration records during on-site audits.
  • Lead in resolving Out-of-Tolerance events.
  • Support management in addressing corrective or preventive actions related to equipment.
  • Ensure lab staff have needed help on equipment to complete studies.
  • Prepare protocols for validation and requalification of equipment and maintain schedules.
  • Prepare impact assessment reports for equipment involved in out-of-tolerance events.
  • Coordinate outside calibration testing when needed.
  • Collaborate with metrology management on equipment qualification or retirement.
