Job summary

Lehman College in the City University of New York is seeking a full-time College Laboratory Technician for the Human Performance and Fitness Laboratory in Exercise Sciences. The role involves hands-on lab work, equipment safety, and supporting classroom instruction.

You will manage supplies, assist with biomechanics and physiology courses, and ensure OSHA and university policies are followed. The position is on-site with some evening/weekend coverage at Lehman College.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years' related experience.
• Education substitutions may be used to meet the experience requirement: an associate's degree may be substituted for two years' experience and a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for four years' experience.
• Direct, train, and supervise others in laboratory settings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the Human Performance and Fitness laboratory and technology in the classrooms to ensure that the computers are updated with the proper software.
• Assist with laboratory setting up for courses such as Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, and Motor Learning and briefing students on equipment safety and proper handling.
• Support adherence to OSHA and university policy, including safe handling of biological samples and hazardous materials.
• Assist faculty and staff with the use of media and computer programs for instruction and research, while providing ongoing support and professional development to enhance the integration of technology in classroom teaching and human performance and fitness laboratory settings.
• Maintain an inventory of all exercise equipment in the Human Performance and Fitness laboratory, completing equipment logs, supporting lab operations, and potentially supervising research students.
