Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Ankeny, IA is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician for 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Mon-Thu). The role supports daily lab activities, receives and organizes samples, maintains labware inventory, and prepares buffers and reagents.

You will follow ESH guidelines and SOPs, work with multiple supervisors, and assist with genotyping equipment, task documentation, and rotating through Chipping, Extraction, and Detection areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic lab skills and willingness to handle routine tasks.
• Ability to follow SOPs and safety rules in a lab.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and communicate with supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Support daily laboratory activities and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Receive and organize samples, manage labware inventory, and prepare buffers/reagents.
• Follow ESH guidelines and SOPs to ensure a safe work environment.
• Rotate across Chipping, Extraction and Detection areas as needed.
• Troubleshoot and operate equipment used in genotyping production and document tasks.

This position is offering a pay range of $20.65/hr. however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. • - The ideal candidate will support daily laboratory activities by overseeing general operations and maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly workspace.
• - Responsibilities could include receiving and organizing incoming samples, maintaining adequate labware inventory, and preparing buffers and reagents.
• - Understanding and following Employee Safety and Health (ESH) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflow guidelines, and maintaining a safe work environment are needed.
• - Being capable of managing multiple tasks, working effectively with more than one supervisor, interfacing with other functions such as system support teams and research personnel are encouraged.
• - This role also involves troubleshooting and operating equipment used in genotyping production, as well as reviewing and updating task-related documentation.
• - Candidates may be required to rotate across all three laboratory areas: Chipping, Extraction, and Detection.
• - Training for these positions may occur outside the listed normal work hours, depending on the availability of training personnel. This will be discussed prior to hiring.
