Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Ankeny, IA is seeking an Entry Lab Technician for second shift (3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Mon-Thu). The role supports daily laboratory activities, maintains a clean and safe workspace, and helps prepare buffers and reagents.

Candidates will receive and organize samples, manage labware inventory, and follow ESH and SOP guidelines. The position may require rotating through Chipping, Extraction, and Detection areas and training outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will support daily laboratory activities by overseeing general operations and maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly workspace.
• Responsibilities include receiving and organizing incoming samples, maintaining adequate labware inventory, and preparing buffers and reagents.
• Follow Employee Safety and Health (ESH) guidelines, SOPs, workflow guidelines, and maintain a safe work environment.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks and interacting with multiple supervisors and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot and operate equipment used in genotyping production and update task-related documentation.
• Possible rotation across Chipping, Extraction, and Detection areas.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lab operations and keep workspace clean and organized.
• Receive and organize samples, manage labware inventory, and prepare buffers/reagents.
• Adhere to ESH guidelines and SOPs to maintain safety and quality.
• Rotate across Chipping, Extraction, and Detection areas as needed.

Job Description

• Understanding and following Employee Safety and Health (ESH) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflow guidelines, and maintaining a safe work environment are needed.
• Being capable of managing multiple tasks, working effectively with more than one supervisor, interfacing with other functions such as system support teams and research personnel are encouraged.
• This role also involves troubleshooting and operating equipment used in genotyping production, as well as reviewing and updating task-related documentation.
• Candidates may be required to rotate across all three laboratory areas: Chipping, Extraction, and Detection.
• Training for these positions may occur outside the listed normal work hours, depending on the availability of training personnel. This will be discussed prior to hiring.
