Job summary

Planet Pharma in Ankeny, IA seeks a lab support specialist to oversee daily operations, keep the workspace clean and organized, and assist with sample reception, organization, and buffer/reagent preparation.

The role includes troubleshooting and operating genotyping production equipment, reviewing task-related documentation, and potential rotation across Chipping, Extraction, and Detection areas. Training may occur outside normal hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in lab operations or general lab workflow preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and interface with different teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory activities and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Receive and organize incoming samples, maintain labware inventory, and prepare buffers and reagents.
• Troubleshoot and operate equipment used in genotyping production; review and update task-related documentation.
• Rotate across Chipping, Extraction, and Detection areas as needed.
• Adhere to Employee Safety and Health guidelines, SOPs, and workflow guidelines; ensure a safe work environment.

Job description

Pay range: 19-23/hr

The ideal candidate will support daily laboratory activities by overseeing general operations and maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly workspace. Responsibilities could include receiving and organizing incoming samples, maintaining adequate labware inventory, and preparing buffers and reagents.

This role also involves troubleshooting and operating equipment used in genotyping production, as well as reviewing and updating task-related documentation. Candidates may be required to rotate across all three laboratory areas: Chipping, Extraction, and Detection.

Understanding and following Employee Safety and Health (ESH) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflow guidelines, and maintaining a safe work environment are needed. Being capable of managing multiple tasks, working effectively with more than one supervisor, interfacing with other functions such as system support teams and research personnel are encouraged.

Training for these positions may occur outside the listed normal work hours, depending on the availability of training personnel. This will be discussed prior to hiring.
