A lab technician position with Aerotek in Omaha, NE, focusing on washing, sterilization, and preparation of glassware and materials in a controlled environment.
The role involves operating autoclaves, maintaining inventory, creating documentation, and supporting cross-training across production and laboratory tasks. The schedule is 1st shift with flexibility for weekends and holidays.
The Lab Technician supports laboratory and production operations by preparing, washing, and sterilizing glassware and equipment, assisting with media preparation, and filling containers with product in a controlled environment. This role works on 1st shift Monday through Friday, with flexible start times between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM and end times between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, and may occasionally include Saturdays, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.
Manually wash or operate washing machines to clean and remove impurities from glass products, manufactured articles, and plastics.
Prepare all glassware, including washing and wrapping, for sterilization in autoclaves.
Operate autoclaves safely, including loading and unloading items, and handle lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds.
Remove glassware and media from autoclaves, cool items appropriately, and tighten lids to ensure proper closure and sterility.
Put away, organize, and rotate glassware and laboratory supplies to maintain adequate inventory and efficient workflow.
Prepare equipment and materials for autoclaving, ensuring proper setup and adherence to sterilization procedures.
Perform media and supplement preparation, including some aseptic work in the media preparation area.
Fill drums and other containers with product according to established production processes and quality standards.
Complete clear, accurate, and precise documentation of processes and activities for record-keeping and compliance.
Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment to support safe and reliable operations.
Conduct routine cleaning of the processing area to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Assist with the training of new employees by demonstrating tasks and sharing knowledge of procedures and standards.
Cross-train in multiple functional areas to support flexible coverage and overall production efficiency.
Requisition materials and supplies for the department as needed to ensure continuous operations.
Work flexible hours as required by business needs, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned to support production and laboratory operations.
Ability to safely operate production and laboratory equipment, including washing machines and autoclaves.
Strong attention to cleanliness and detail in washing, sterilization, and preparation of glassware and equipment.
Understanding of basic sterilization principles and production processes.
Ability to follow established documentation processes and maintain clear, precise records of work performed.
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
Ability to stand, bend, and move continuously in all areas of production for the duration of the shift.
Good eyesight and hand–eye coordination to handle glassware, instruments, and detailed tasks safely.
Flexibility to work varying hours, including potential weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
Post-secondary education is preferred and considered an asset.
Experience working with production equipment or in a production environment is beneficial.
Experience in cleaning, washing, or sterilization processes is advantageous.
Familiarity with laboratory or manufacturing documentation procedures is a plus.
Willingness to cross-train and learn multiple functional areas within the department.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
