Job Description:

The Laboratory Technical Assistant performs in-vitro analysis of biologic specimens according to established procedures for routine laboratory areas. The role includes supporting quality control, instrument operation, limited troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Responsibilities are specific to a defined group of tests classified as waived or moderately complex under CLIA regulations.

Job Qualifications

Education

Qualifications beyond high school must be from an accredited institution recognized by the CHEA.

Minimum: None

Preferred/Optional: Post-high school courses in basic lab techniques, chemistry, biology, or physical sciences.

Experience

Minimum: Knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment.

Preferred/Optional: Previous lab experience and experience with Laboratory Information Systems.

Certifications/Licenses

Required licenses or certifications include:

• Minimum: BLS certification from the AHA within three months of hire for those involved in direct patient care.
• Preferred/Optional: BLS certification at the time of hire.

Additional Responsibilities

Provide clinic coverage on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM. Responsibilities include activating orders, phlebotomy, processing, maintenance, and basic testing.
