Wind Hub Technician - TX 11 (Amarillo, TX Area)

Job Overview

The Wind Technician role involves local travel within the hub and is essential for maintaining optimal turbine operation and output. Responsibilities include working on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. The technician collaborates with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and uphold GE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute contractual obligations with site & hub leadership, including electrical and mechanical maintenance of GE wind turbines.
• Perform repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Assist in site operations under minimal supervision, adhering to safety standards.
• Conduct electrical diagnostics and document all work using computer-based reporting tools.
• Coordinate with GE’s remote operations center as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; or Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy; or 2 years electrical work experience.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic.

Eligibility Requirements

• Pass a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
• Basic computer skills and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to handle 50 lbs. weight, climb towers up to 300 feet daily, and work in diverse environments.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, on-call, and occasionally overnight.

Preferred Characteristics

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.
• Technical certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronics.
• Experience with wind turbines, hydraulic tools, heavy equipment, and crane/rigging operations.
