Job description

Job Description Summary

The Wind Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The Wind Technician plays a critical role in maintaining optimal turbine function and output by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. The technician collaborates with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and timelines, ensuring alignment with GE standards.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with site and hub leadership to fulfill contractual obligations and perform maintenance on electrical and mechanical components of GE wind turbines.
  2. Perform maintenance, repairs, or replacements of parts to fix malfunctions.
  3. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on turbines.
  4. Assist in all site operations as directed, adhering to safety protocols.
  5. Conduct diagnostic electrical analyses.
  6. Document all work using computerized service reporting tools.
  7. Coordinate with GE’s remote operations center when needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or related field, or completion of a Wind Certificate Program/Associate's Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Successful passing of a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain it.
  • Ability to handle 50 lbs. weight and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
  • Meet manufacturer weight limits (not exceeding 300 lbs. including gear).
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including industrial and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Flexible to work rotating shifts, on-call, and occasional overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field.
  • Technical certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronics.
  • Experience working with diverse personnel and teams.
  • Wind turbine operational experience.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic power tools, heavy equipment, crane, and rigging.
