Job Summary:
The Histology Laboratory Technologist Assistant is a full-timeposition that performs a variety of routine and non-routinetechnical and administrative/clerical duties in the clinicalhistology laboratory setting under minimal supervision. Thisposition requires independent judgment in selection ofmethodologies utilized in processing specimens and in solvingnon-routine problems. The Clinical Laboratory (Histology)Technologist Assistant contributes to the overall efficiency of thelaboratory or pathology practice in a cost effective manner byperforming a variety of tasks, consisting primarily of preparingall surgical pathology specimens in preparation for pathologistreview and diagnosis. Clinical Laboratory (Histology) TechnologistAssistant receives all histology specimens while checking paperworkfor complete and accurate clinical information. Clinical Laboratory(Histology) Technologist Assistant will then organize the specimensand assist in preparing them for processing using variousmethodologies, complex machinery and staining systems. This isextremely important in overall patient care. Inappropriateprocessing, lost specimens, or incorrectly labeled specimens canresult in incorrect or unavailable diagnoses which can cause repeatprocedures or life threatening treatment choices. ClinicalLaboratory (Histology) Technologist Assistant must be familiar withmany laboratory policies and procedures. The position also assistsin maintenance of the histology area by stocking supplies, cleaningand organizing of work stations, disposal of biological waste,adherence to all compliance and operational procedures.

The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for thisposition has been established as
$53,796 - $64,548
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents theUniversity's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range ofpossible compensation at the time of posting. This position may beeligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
