Job summary

Carl Zeiss Vision, Inc. is seeking Lab Technicians to join our team, performing routine production duties across the lens manufacturing process. The role includes receiving, inspecting, blocking, coating, tinting, assembling, packaging, data entry, invoicing, and equipment maintenance.

All levels require adherence to safety standards and the ability to follow written or verbal directions. Level II & III add troubleshooting and cross-training responsibilities.

  • Qualifies and inspects product to ensure CZV specifications.

What’s the role? We are seeking Lab Technicians to join our time. In this role you will perform routine production duties associated with the lens manufacturing processes.

This position will be assigned to one or more of the following areas:

  • Receiving Lenses and / or Frames
  • Inspecting lenses
  • Blocking, Spotting, Taping and / or Foco
  • Lens Coating
  • Tinting
  • Assembling Jobs
  • Packaging & Shipping
  • Entering Data
  • Invoicing & Billing
  • Equipment Troubleshooting
  • Purchasing
  • Reporting

Responsibilities for All Levels:
  • Performs routine production duties associated with various aspects of lens production paying close attention to quality, quantity and efficiency. Refer to the Job Matrix for further departmental specifics.
  • Complies with all safety standards and reports any safety concerns to leadership.
  • Qualifies and inspects product to ensure compliance with CZV specifications and standards.
  • Maintains appropriate written and / or computer documentation.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Additional Responsibilities for Level II & III:
  • Employs troubleshooting techniques to determine cause of instrument / machine failure and implement repairs where necessary.
  • Cross trains in other areas and departments.
Do you qualify?
All positions require Level I:
  • HSD / GED
  • 0 - 2 years related experience
Level II:
  • 2 - 3 years related experience
  • 1 year optical manufacturing experience
Level III:
  • 3 - 5 years related experience
  • 3 years optical manufacturing experience
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities for All Levels:
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines with the ability to identify and understand safety items
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task production environment
  • Exceptional attendance record
  • Honest, dependable and be able to follow directions either written or verbal
  • Full knowledge of at least one department and basic knowledge of the entire lab
  • Professional demeanor with a positive attitude and approach to work
  • Patience to fully see the task through is a must
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting or independently, as needed
  • Customer Service Mindset
  • Desire to learn
  • Ability to read English and identify numbers
  • Good verbal and written communication with ability to communicate with other associates in aclear, concise manner
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work overtime when needed

  • Ability to sit and or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements with upper and lower extremities
  • Ability to sustain lengthy periods of visual concentration andgood hand/eye/foot coordination
  • Solid dexterity and mechanical skills
  • Must be able to regularly lift 10 pounds. Must be able to lift 30 pounds in Surfacing.
  • Must be able to excerpt up to 20 PSI with hands
  • Ability to use of personal protective equipment

The hourly pay ranges for these positions: Technician I, Lab $17.50 -$22.00 Technician II, Lab $18.50 - $23.00 Technician III, Lab $21.00 - $26.00

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus.
