Job summary

Memorial Health Ohio is seeking a Phlebotomist/Lab Tech Assistant to join our full-service lab team. You will collect specimens, provide patient services, and support routine testing in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires completion of a post-secondary program in Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant, with certification preferred. You will operate HIS, manage samples, train students, and maintain supplies while working flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant program; lab phlebotomist experience preferred.
• National Phlebotomy Society certification preferred.
• National Society Clinical Pathology certification or other certs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and urine specimens, may rotate to off-site lab.
• Operates HIS: registers orders, prints labels, updates records.
• Centrifuges samples and uses analyzers as trained.
• Answers calls, relays messages, communicates results; prints reports.
• Maintains inventory, orders supplies, stocks storeroom.
• Assists with training of students.
• Works flexible hours to staff the department.

We are looking for a Phlebotomist/Lab Tech Assistant to join our full service lab team!

What You'll Do

• Collects blood specimens (e.g. venous, capillary, etc.) and urine specimens including proper drug screen collections (venipunctures on neonates are N/A in the outpatient area and on the inpatient units, may be required to rotate to the off-site laboratory.
• Performs patient functions in the Hospital Information System (HIS) (e.g., registers, orders, updates, prints labels, etc.)
• Performs various lab duties such as centrifuging sample, places tubes on analyzers (CBC) and other lab duties/testing as deemed competent to perform.
• Answers telephone, takes and relays messages; communicates test results. Prints daily and final cumulative reports; sorts reports and properly distributes.
• Maintains adequate inventory of necessary supplies; orders supplies; stocks storeroom.
• Assists with training of various college and vocational school students.
• Works flexible hours to adequately staff department.

What You'll Bring/Requirements

• Completion of post secondary program in Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant and experience as a laboratory phlebotomist preferred, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. National Phlebotomy Society certification, National Society Clinical Pathology preferred or other assisting certification(s).

Shift

• Morning: 6am-2:30pm
• Mid: 10am-6:30pm

Hours

80 per pay (Every two weeks)
