Job summary

VillageMD in New Jersey seeks a laboratory technician to support technologists by labeling, organizing and maintaining specimens for COVID, blood chemistry, histology and urine testing. You provide technical assistance, problem solving and follow all safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include preparing specimens for testing, ensuring proper barcode labeling, organizing storage, and assisting with troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Health Sciences degree preferred.
• Preferred 1 year related work experience.
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken.
• Moderate-High level computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing meeting lab criteria.
• Readies specimens for analyzers with proper barcodes and requisitions.
• Organize and maintain lab storage, samples, and specimens.
• Familiar with tube types, test requests, and medical terminology.
• Sanitize equipment and workspace; assist with pipetting and sample organization.
• Troubleshoot problem specimens and ensure proper logging.
