Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Lab Support Technician (LST I) to join the provider care team, supporting reports, data and scheduling for the laboratory. The role emphasizes accurate, timely, and effective laboratory support and requires excellent customer service in line with Mercy Signature Service with all interactions.

The LST I will collect specimens using safe, professional methods, ensure HIPAA confidentiality, and handle processing, transport, and referral of specimens and reports as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or enrollment in a healthcare career program.
• Successful completion of probationary period.
• No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely laboratory support for reports, data, and scheduling.
• Acquire laboratory specimens using safe, accurate, professional methods.
• Process, transport, and refer laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and follow lab policies.
• Demonstrate Mercy Service Standards in all interactions.

The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum.
