Job summary

Mercy Fort Smith is seeking a Lab Support Technician (LST I) to join the provider care team, supporting reports, data and scheduling in the laboratory. You will perform specimen collection, processing, transport and referral with careful adherence to safety and HIPAA confidentiality.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, precise execution, and alignment with Mercy Signature Service while completing required checklists and contributing to a caring, collaborative healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses preferred.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Successful completion of probationary period.
• No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate laboratory support including specimen processing, transport and reporting.
• Exhibit excellent customer service in line with Mercy Signature Service.
• Observe HIPAA confidentiality and comply with lab policies.
• Complete departmental checklists and be observed by management to develop competencies.

This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
