Job summary

Mercy Rogers is seeking a Lab Support Technician (LST I) to join the provider care team. This role supports reports, data and scheduling for the laboratory, while ensuring accurate, timely lab support and excellent customer service.

The LST I will assist with specimen collection, processing, transport and referral of specimens and reports, follow HIPAA confidentiality, and complete required departmental checklists under supervision.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED or enrollment in a healthcare career program.
• No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans.
• Successful completion of probationary period.
• Preferred: college-level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
• Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and accurate laboratory support for reports, data and scheduling.
• Perform skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing.
• Handle processing, transport and referral of specimens and reports.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and follow lab policies.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
