Responsibilities

• Greet patients and collect specimens across outpatient, inpatient and ED settings.
• Verify specimen and test requirements; instruct patients on self-collection when needed.
• Process and manage specimens using lab information systems; ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate recollection and resolve specimen/order discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain safety culture and participate in quality improvement activities.

The Laboratory Support Technician is an onsite position.**Essential Functions*** Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients and customers, answering inquiries, and serving as a knowledgeable laboratory resource.* Collect patient specimens competently and efficiently across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings while minimizing patient discomfort.* Verify specimen and test requirements by ensuring proper collection, adequacy of samples, and instructing patients on self-collection when needed.* Resolve specimen and order-related issues by assessing requirements, troubleshooting discrepancies, documenting problems, and coordinating recollection when necessary.* Process and manage specimens and laboratory information by preparing samples for testing or transport, utilizing information systems accurately, and participating in quality improvement activities* Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.* Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request.
