Job summary

Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo, NE is seeking a Lab Technician to perform chemistry, hematology, blood banking, serology, microbiology, and urinalysis tests, and to maintain records per lab policies. The role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • ASCP or AMT MLT license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen collection including venipuncture, arterial puncture, and capillary sticks.
  • Perform tests in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, serology, microbiology and urinalysis.
  • Maintain equipment per policies and log preventative/remedial maintenance and temperatures.
  • Verify quality control results before reporting patient results.
  • Follow HIPAA and compliance policies; report any issues to supervisor.
  • Assist in supervision of Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist and maintain accurate records.

Maintain records found in the laboratory's general and sectional policy and procedure manuals.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.* Perform specimen collection which includes arterial punctures, venipunctures, and capillary sticks.* Perform preventative maintenance as necessary on lab equipment.* Maintain equipment in accordance with define policies and protocols and log preventative and remedial maintenance of equipment, including daily temperatures.* Perform and Verify quality control testing results are within accepted range before reporting patient results.* Perform and report results for all laboratory In-house testing.* Report any problems or difficulties to the Technical Supervisor or Lab Manager for resolution.* Maintain records of procedure performance, patient results, and quality control. Plots results of controls on Levey-Jennings charts.
