Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Preferred training in a formal phlebotomy program with didactic and clinical experience
  • One year of phlebotomy or specimen processing (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and customers, answer inquiries, and serve as a knowledgeable laboratory resource.
  • Collect patient specimens across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings while minimizing discomfort.
  • Verify specimen and test requirements, ensure sample adequacy, and instruct on self-collection when needed.
  • Resolve specimen and order-related issues, document problems, and coordinate recollection as necessary.
  • Prepare and manage specimens and laboratory information, using information systems accurately.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and support a culture of safety.
  • Work hours per week as indicated by the offer letter or position description, with possible longer hours as needed.

The Laboratory Support Technician is an onsite position.Essential FunctionsProvide excellent customer service by greeting patients and customers, answering inquiries, and serving as a knowledgeable laboratory resource.Collect patient specimens competently and efficiently across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings while minimizing patient discomfort.Verify specimen and test requirements by ensuring proper collection, adequacy of samples, and instructing patients on self-collection when needed.Resolve specimen and order-related issues by assessing requirements, troubleshooting discrepancies, documenting problems, and coordinating recollection when necessary.Process and manage specimens and laboratory information by preparing samples for testing or transport, utilizing information systems accurately, and participating in quality improvement activitiesPrepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request.
