Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician (LST III) to join the provider care team supporting reports, data and scheduling functions in the laboratory. The role requires accurate, timely laboratory support and compliant interactions with patients and staff according to Mercy Service Standards.

The LST III performs specimen collection, processing, transport, and referrals, with responsibilities including limited testing and assisting technologists in various test methods.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One year phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience. Previous Mercy LST II designation or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: College level chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
• Phlebotomy preceptor experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory.
• Acquire specimens for laboratory testing using safe, accurate methods and observe HIPAA requirements.
• Handle processing, transport and referral of laboratory specimens and reports as required.
• Provide limited laboratory testing and assist technologists in appropriate test methods.
