Mercy Clinics of Springfield and Communities is seeking a Lab Support Technician (LST I) to join the provider care team. You will support reports, data and scheduling functions in the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely services and maintaining patient privacy.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service with internal and external customers, specimen collection, specimen processing and transport, and adherence to Mercy Service Standards. Full-time position based in Springfield, MO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; enrolled in a healthcare program preferred.
• A background in healthcare or clinical settings is advantageous.
• Knowledge of patient privacy and HIPAA guidelines is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely laboratory support for reports, data and scheduling.
• Skillfully acquire laboratory specimens using approved procedures.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality in all interactions with internal and external customers.
• Process, transport, and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required.

The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
• Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory.
