Job summary

Saint Luke’s East Hospital is seeking a full-time Night Lab Support Tech to join our laboratory team. The role involves phlebotomy, arterial collection support, and participation in competency evaluations for multi-skilled workers in patient care areas.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, matching samples to LIS/EMR orders, and performing point-of-care testing, with emphasis on accuracy and patient safety. Schedule: nights, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Experience with phlebotomy and arterial collection is a plus.
• Familiarity with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care testing as required.
• Assist in quality control and maintenance of point-of-care instruments.
• Communicates effectively with nursing staff regarding patient collections.

Saint Luke's East Hospital is seeking a full-time nights Lab Support Tech to join our team!! Individuals in this position support the laboratory in one or several key areas that include phlebotomy arterial collection support and participation in competency evaluations of multi-skilled workers in patient care areas, quality control maintenance of various point of care instruments, patient registration test ordering processing of outreach patient specimens, processing of inpatient specimens, specifically-directed preparation and record keeping for blood components, and various direct client services functions FT - Nights 1900pm - 0730am. (2 weekends on, 2 weekends off).

Schedule

• Week 1 Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday.
• Week 2 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
• Week 3 Thursday, Friday Saturday.
• Week 4 Sunday, Friday Saturday.

Key duties

• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections.
