Job summary

Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City, MO is seeking a phlebotomist/lab support technician who is patient-focused and adaptable to a busy laboratory. This part-time role emphasizes both phlebotomy and specimen processing.

Two 12-hour day shifts, 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM, with rotating weekends/holidays. Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required; ASCP diploma is noted. The role supports patient care and teamwork within the lab.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of laboratory technician experience.
• American Society for Clinical Pathology Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens per lab policy and regulatory standards.
• Correlate samples to test orders in LIS/EMR.
• Perform and report Point of Care testing as required.
• Identify patient issues that might interfere with sample collection and resolve them.
• Communicate effectively with nursing and unit staff about collections.

We are seeking a phlebotomist/lab support technician that is confident in their skills, patient focused, positive, and willing to go above and beyond for their patients and peers. Phlebotomy experience is preferred, but not required. We are looking for professionals who like to multi-task and stay busy, and able to adapt to rapidly changing laboratory workflow.

Part -Time Two 12hour shifts 5:00AM -5:30PM with rotating weekends/holidays

The job is 50% phlebotomy and 50% specimen processing.

The Work:

• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections.
